Academic Advisor II
Joslyn Torres

Gould-Simpson Rm. 628

Hello! My name is Joslyn, and I am proud to serve as an Academic Advisor for the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NSCS) program at the University of Arizona. With a diverse background, including being a proud UA alum with a BA in Psychology and a Navy veteran, I bring a wealth of experience and adaptability to my work with students. Balancing the unique challenges of military life with personal, academic, and professional pursuits has taught me the value of perseverance, flexibility, and connection—qualities I hope to share with my students.

Curiosity is my highest value and a driving force behind everything I do. Asking questions and exploring new perspectives are essential for growth and innovation. This philosophy shapes how I engage with students, encouraging them to embrace curiosity as a tool for discovery and empowerment.

I am an avid reader and audiobook enthusiast. I consume a mix of fiction and nonfiction that broadens my worldview and fuels my passion for learning. A recent favorite is The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, a heartwarming story I highly recommend to anyone seeking a little magic in their reading. For all our NSCS students, check out Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain or anything by Oliver Sacks.
