After graduation, I hope to go to medical school after taking a gap year. On top of being an NSCS ambassador, I volunteer with multiple organizations, participate in research, and am a preceptor for organic chemistry. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, hiking, and baking. I’m excited to meet you and help you along your college journey!"

Next year, I plan to apply to graduate school to pursue a career in research. Here on campus I am involved in NSCS Association of Students (which you should all look in to), the Undergraduate Biological Research Program, I used to be a preceptor for honors gen chem, and I have done research in a pain and addiction lab all my years at UA. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing, cooking and hiking. I look forward to meeting you all!"

Within the next few years, I plan to take a gap year traveling and doing community service and advocating public health to impoverished areas, and applying to medical school. Here on campus, I am involved with WIMS, Stressbusters, and off campus I volunteer at Banner Hospital, and work with an amazing U of A student who has cerebral palsy. Outside of my academics, I love to travel, bake, and do any form of active and adventurous activities. I look forward to meeting you and helping you along with your college and NSCS journey!"

"Howdy, my name's Bassil, he/him/his, raised in Tucson, Arizona, originally born in Egypt, I am a Senior in the Neuroscience track with an emphasis in Biomedical Engineering. I am going to take a gap year to work as a wilderness EMT and then pursue and MD/PhD in Neurology and Biomedical Engineering to do medical research on integrating technology into the nervous system. I do research, am involved in NSCSAS, NSCS Ambassadors, Nu Rho Psi, and compete through Eller Business School. I adore hiking when I can, drawing, and volunteering. I ask a lot of questions, so hope to help you find answers to all things NSCS!"

"Hello potential mentees, my name is Bhumika, I go by pronouns she/her/hers and I am a Junior from Chandler, Arizona on the neuroscience track with a cognitive emphasis. Within the next few years, I plan to finish my NSCS major and Biochemistry minor and apply to medical school. Here on campus, I am the secretary and treasurer for the Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research club, I am involved with the Women in Medicine and Science, I work in the Steel’s Children’s Research lab and I also have job on campus as a residential desk assistant. Off campus, I volunteer at the Children’s Clinic at TMC Hospital and in the Emergency Department at Banner University Medical Center. Outside of academics, I spend a lot of my time with my friends doing things like driving up to Mt. Lemmon and exploring all the food places Tucson has to offer. My plans for post graduation is applying to medical school to pursue being a neurosurgeon. As of right now I in the Zinsmaier research lab, I am on the NSCS diversity board, and I participate in shadowing and volunteer work. Some things that I like to do in my free time consist of going to the gym, cooking, and gaming."

Within the next few years, I plan to go to straight into medical school after I finish my undergrad, and I’m hoping to be involved in some sort of surgery as part of my future career. Here on campus, I am involved with the NSCS Ambassadors, the PSIO club, preceptoring, and research with a NSCS lab studying echolocation in bats! Outside of academics, I love spending time with friends and family, watching Netflix, eating buffalo wings, and helping coach wrestling at a local high school. I’m super excited to meet all of you, and I can’t wait to show you just how amazing the NSCS department and staff are!"

After graduating, I plan on pursuing an MS in Applied Mathematics before embarking on a career in artificial intelligence research/computational neuroscience. Here on campus, I am involved in Nu Rho Psi and do research in the Math department and the Neuroscience of Reinforcement and Decision-Making Lab. Within the next few years, I plan to take a gap year where I either work as a scribe or as a translator at a hospital and apply to medical schools. On campus you can find me at the SCAN Lab and preceptoring for MCB 181. Outside of academics I love to volunteer at a women's shelter, go to concerts and festivals, read books and binge watch shows, and practice yoga. I’m so excited to meet you and help you with your NSCS and college journey :)"

I am on the cognitive science track with an emphasis in cognition, and I am also minoring in Spanish. My career aspirations include becoming a physician assistant and exploring different specialties. Here on campus, I am involved with the Latinx Health Student Association and FirstCats. I was also a previous member of Blue Chip Leadership Experience. Additionally, I am an administrative assistant at the Neuroscience Department. Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling anywhere I can, and trying new recipes. For on campus activities, I am involved with NSCSAS and AMSA. Outside of school, I like to play Nintendo games, love sweets, am a theater kid, and like to watch movies in my spare time. "Hello friends, my name is Destiny, I use she, her, hers pronouns, I’m from Tacoma, Washington, and I’m now a Junior on the neuroscience track with a cognition emphasis. When it comes to my plans after I graduate, at the moment I plan to apply for med school, I’m not sure where, I haven’t fully solidified what exactly I want to do with my degree, but I’m thinking about working for a non-profit or something in that realm. On campus I was a member of Preludes freshman honorary and am currently in Chain Gang Junior Honorary, these are clubs on campus, and I was also involved in my dorm’s hall council. When I’m not focusing on school, I like to spend time outside, I enjoy binge watching anime, cooking, baking, playing video games if I have time, going to basically all the home sporting events it doesn’t matter what sport, you can almost always catch me at a game, and, while this isn’t outside school, I’ve been a part of musical ensembles here on campus and I really enjoy that, but I get credit for it so I can’t technically count it as extracurricular, but I still do. I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you a little better and help welcome you to the NSCS wildcat family. Bear Down and Go Cats!"

At the University of Arizona, I've been involved in a research lab (and two summer research programs), study abroad, curriculum and instruction design for General Chemistry, and volunteering at a mobile health clinic. Outside of school, I volunteer with my church, am probably eating Sonoran Dogs (ask me about my favorite Mexican food in Tucson), and am thinking about where to hike or travel next!"

I was previously involved in the NSCS Association of Students and Flying Samaritans, and am currently a student worker at Banner University Medical Center in the department of neuroscience. My hobbies include watching movies/TV (I’m a big Star Wars/Harry Potter fan!), reading, writing, and going to concerts. "Hello Neurons, my name is Gigi (she/her) and I am a Sophmore on the neuroscience track, emphasizing in neurobiology. After I graduate from the U of A, I am planning to take a few years to travel, work in research, and volunteer in Tanzania to teach clarinet and plant the trees used to make the instrument. I’m currently involved in NSCS Ambassadors, UBRP, TURN UP Multimedia Festival, and research in a cocaine/opioid addiction rat lab (yes, it is as cool as it sounds). In my free time, I love to play every instrument imaginable, take runs at 5 am to see the sunrise, and go on spontaneous road trips across Arizona. I am so excited to meet you and support you through college, NSCS, and whatever life brings!"

After I graduate from the UA I plan on taking a gap year where I will continue to work for my lab, do a WOOFing program in Italy, and apply for graduate school. Here at the UA I am an RA in the SCAN Lab, I am involved in campus feminist organizations including PPGen, and I work for the IRB. Outside of school I enjoy hiking and going to local concerts, I also try to stay involved in the black lives matter movement here in Tucson. I am excited to meet you and support you in anything you may need wether it be NSCS or just life related!"

Hi! My name is Haley Kenner (she/her/hers), I am a Junior on the Neuroscience track with a Neurobiology emphasis, and I am from Scottsdale, Arizona! At the moment I am applying to medical school with the goal of attending right after graduation, and I am interested in many fields at the moment such as orthopedics, emergency medicine, and endocrinology. I am currently an NSCS ambassador, a math tutor at ThinkTank, a chair head on ASUA's Student Health Advocacy Committee, and I am also involved in pharmacology/neuroscience research, volunteering, preceptoring, and I just finished up an internship at Banner Hospital. In my free time I love trying local Tucson restaurants, finding new coffee shops to study at, and I really enjoy exploring and hiking all over Mount Lemmon. I can't wait to meet you and introduce you to the wonderful NSCS family!

Within the next few years, I plan to go to grad school for Neuroscience/Cognitive Science and continue to participate in research as I have an interest in neurodegenerative disease. Here on campus, I am an NSCS ambassador, a desk manager at Villa del Puente Residence Hall, and I conduct Parkinson’s disease research in the Miller lab. Outside of school, I love to play soccer (I played for the UA Women’s Club Soccer Team), play instruments, watch anime/movies, draw, and spend time hiking/climbing outside in the gorgeous Tucson desert. During my time at U of A, I have been involved in volunteering at Banner (during my freshman and sophomore years), NSCS Ambassadors, working as an EMT for UAEMS, and being an RA in the dorms. Outside of school, I love going on hikes, reading, finding cute coffee/tea shops, and most of all traveling to new places. Within the next few years, I plan to take a gap year and travel to Spain to become better at spanish while also studying for the MCAT to go to medical school in the near future. Here on campus, I am involved with the Thrive Center, as well as a member for the NSCSAS club. I am currently on the neuroscience track with a neurobiology emphasis and minoring in biochemistry. Within the next few years I plan on applying to P-MAP to hopefully receive a Master of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Medicine with the intention of going to medical school. Here on campus I am involved in a neuropharmacology research lab that I have been working in since high school! Outside of academia, I like to destress by biking with friends, going to local museums, and trying out new photography techniques. Post graduation, I plan to do a one year masters at ASU in Science of Healthcare Delivery to focus on healthcare disparities and policy making to lead me into my next several years at medical school. On campus, I am involved with NSCS Ambassadors, Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research, Women in Medicine and Science as well as researching in a chronic paid and drug development lab. Off campus, I volunteer at Banner Health Hospital in their pediatric oncology unit as well as with the Children's Clinic. On campus, I was a research intern at the Brain Imaging and TMS Lab and I am now a writing tutor at THINK TANK. I am from the suburbs of Chicago but I fell in love with the beautiful scenery in Arizona and wanted to experience a new part of the country, which is why I chose to go here! On campus, I am involved with NSCS ambassadors, NSCSAS, freshman class council, and I am currently applying to research positions for the upcoming semester! I also love being active and played on an intramural soccer team last semester and I hope next semester I can play on an intramural badminton team! Aside from this, I love meeting new people and hearing about their stories, background, dreams, and aspirations and I can’t wait to meet some of you and help you get the most out of your NSCS experience!"

Within the next few years, I plan to apply to medical school, volunteer with the homeless population, translate at hospitals, and teach refugee/ immigrant children how to speak English. Here on campus, I am involved with Pre-MD Ambassadors, Mobile Medicats Fundraising Chair, and I was a part of BLAISER this past summer. Outside of academics, I am in a research lab and the focus of my work is pressure volume loop modulation in a swine model of heart failure. I also enjoy running, cycling, hot yoga, swimming, astronomy, and going on adventures! I look forward to meeting you and helping you along with your college and NSCS journey!"

After graduation, I plan on taking time off from formal education and joining the Peace Corps, then pursuing graduate school in public health. Here on campus, I have gotten involved in a research lab studying epilepsy, Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Association of Students (NSCSAS), and residence life through leadership roles in the residence halls' student councils. Outside of academics, I enjoy working out at the student recreation center, listening to music, and spending quality time with friends. I am eager to meet you and learn more about your interests and goals while in college and the NSCS major!"

Within the next few years, I plan to attend graduate school to work towards my masters and subsequently my doctorate in Cognitive Psychology with an emphasis in Adolescent Trauma. Here on campus, I am heavily involved with NSCS ambassadors and the honorary system including, Primus Freshman Honorary, SMORES Sophomore Honorary, and Mortar Board National Senior Honorary. Outside of academics, I like to go hiking, go on fun adventures with my friends and roommates, and playing the piano and singing. "Hello potential mentees, my name is Paige Nye, I go by pronouns she/her/hers and I am a Sophomore from Phoenix, Arizona on the neuroscience track with a cognitive science emphasis. Within the next few years I plan to take a gap semester volunteering abroad and applying to medical school to become a surgeon. On campus, I am involved with NSCSAS, a volunteer organization called Rotaract, Table Tennis Club, and research in the Neuroscience of Emotion and Thought Lab. Outside of academics, I enjoy hiking and finding new local restaurants to try. I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your college and NSCS journey."

"Hello potential mentees, my name is Samantha Cozine, I go by the pronouns she/her and I am a fifth year senior from Tucson, Arizona on the neuroscience track with an emphasis in cognition and a double major in Psychological Sciences. Within the next few years I plan to complete a graduate certificate in biomedical sciences, and apply to medical school. On campus I am involved with the Women in Medicine & Science club, Global Medical Brigades club, organic chemistry preceptor, ER volunteer at Tucson Medical Center, and research in the Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN) lab. Outside of school I like to mountain bike, roller skate, knit and sew, go on late night adventures, be a cat mom, and I love EDM music. "Hi Mentees! My name is Shruti Attreya, and I go by pronouns she/her/hers. I am a sophomore from Tempe, Arizona on the neuroscience track with a neurobiology emphasis. After graduation, I plan on applying to medical school, and I hope to practice internal medicine one day. Here on campus, I am involved with the NSCSAS club, NSCS Ambassadors, Honors College Ambassadors, and research on the unique interactions between the Toxoplasma gondii parasite and the brain. Outside of academics, I love going on adventures with my friends, traveling, watching movies, listening to any kind of music, hiking, and exploring all that Tucson has to offer (especially the restaurants as I am a foodie!). "Hi potential mentees!! My name is Sylvia, I use she/her pronouns and I am a sophomore from Tucson, AZ on the Cognitive Science track with a planned emphasis in Cognition. My academic/research interests are primarily in the field of neuroeconomics and after graduating I plan to pursue a masters degree and then potentially attend either law school or graduate school. On campus I am an NSCS Ambassador and an Honors College Ambassador, I am actively involved in Greek life, I work in a computational neuroscience lab as a part of UofA's Undergraduate Biology Research Program, and I love doing STEM outreach! I am a huge foodie and coffee addict, I love going hiking around Tucson and taking barre classes, and I love to travel and visit new places with my friends. "Hello potential mentees, my name is Zahra (pronounced like za-ra), I go by pronouns she/hers/her and I am a Sophomore from Madison, Mississippi on the neuroscience track and am still unsure about my emphasis. My plans for the future are to go to medical school to become an OBGYN or dermatologist. On campus, I am involved with greek-life, students supporting brain tumor research (SSBTR), volunteering, and research at the SanGiovanni lab. I also enjoy workout classes, making healthy foods, making unhealthy desserts, playing basketball, and playing with dogs. I am excited to meet you and go on the NSCS journey with you!"
